JOB SUMMARY:
A Shift Leader is designated to oversee FOH and BOH operations.   This is an hourly, non-exempt position used to provide assistance to the management team.

WORK TO BE PERFORMED:

  • STRIVES FOR OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
    Assists the GM in supervising the FOH or HOH using El Baja procedures to ensure successful customer satisfaction and service. Responsibilities include:
    Follows all POS comp procedures and cash handling procedures.
    Can discount checks as needed
    Can only discipline EE’s with the direction and guidance of their General Manager, RM or HR.
    Resolves all restaurant level guest questions, complaints, and problems in a timely and efficient manner with management involvement.
    Uses common sense when making critical decisions.  Contact management if assistance is required or inform management as soon as possible when decisions have been made.
    May not perform Shift Leader duties when acting in another capacity (i.e. FOH Trainer)
    Demonstrates appropriate professional and ethical behavior, at all times, when interacting with guests, employees, and managers.
    Supervises the Front of House and Heart of House using proper Kalaveras Restaurant procedures.
    Delegates shift responsibilities to employees and ensure proper completion of assigned tasks and checklists.
    Ensures that standards of food safety and sanitation are maintained at all times.
    Follows all procedures and policies to ensure the safety of all employees and guests.
    Follows correct procedures for checking in food, liquor and supply orders.
    Interacts with guests to ensure satisfaction.
    Provides prompt feedback to employees to recognize them for jobs well done.
    Communicates and corrects employees when not following company standards or procedures.
    Performs all other duties assigned.

PREREQUISITES TO BECOME A FOH SHIFT LEADER

  • Approval by the General Manager, Regional Director.
    Interviewed by the Regional Director.
    Employee in good standing with no negative write ups
    Exemplary image and attendance
    Positive attitude
    Certified trainer
    Completion of the Hourly Shift Leader Program or currently working on the Shift Leader Program
    All Shift Leader candidates must have a background check and social security check completed prior to working any Shift Leader shifts.
    All stations have been completed and validated by the RM.
